Bluetooth Plans To
Boost Speed, Range By Next Year.
Bluetooth – the wireless glue that keeps all our
wearables and mobile devices in sync – is about to be given its first major
overhaul in five years and by 2016 will be twice as fast and will have four
times the range.
SIG reports: “Over three billion Bluetooth products
will ship this year, with almost five billion projected to ship by 2019”.
In addition, the SIG’s canned statement says the
technology will also get mesh networking and higher speeds.
Bluetooth speed will increase by 100 percent
without having an adverse effect on energy consumption, enabling faster data
transfers and lowering latency.
